Rio Fanning

Rio has been in the business so long that he’s forgotten when he began. Starting as an actor, during the Sixties and Seventies he appeared in virtually every TV series made: Z Cars, The Avengers, Budgie, Softly Softly, Casualty, Emmerdale, and more. Since those times TV appearances include District Nurse when he played Dr. O’Casey for 3 series, (which led to him becoming a question in Trivial Pursuits!), All Creatures Great and Small, Peak Practice, General Hospital and several television plays. Films include the Bishop in “Priest”. In the theatre with God knows how many productions in rep, some 500 + he played, among others, Macbeth, Richard III, Bottom and Pistol.

Then twenty-five years ago he started to write and has since written for EastEnders, District Nurse, BallyKissangel, Peak Practice, The Archers, and many foreign series no one has ever heard of. Recently he wrote a film called “Full Circle” and currently he is working on a script commissioned by “SpringRites Productions”; a film set in his native Ireland.
